Regional networks

PECS does not only contribute to place-based, comparative research to foster stewardship of social-ecological systems, but also connects researchers who contribute to regional, cross-cutting research.

The role of the regional networks is to synthesize research on spatially-close social-ecological systems. Associates of regional networks share a conceptual framework and a common set of core themes on the basis of which researchers form case studies at various scales across the particular region. Next to producing empirical evidence and deducing practical theory and tools from this, regional networks aim at mainstreaming knowledge and growing a community through scientific and partnership activities. Ultimately, the goal is to facilitate sustainable and resilient social-ecological systems throughout the region.
